The Vale of Dedham Print
Painted in 1828, The Vale of Dedham art print is an oil painting by John Constable, depicting a dramatic landscape of the Suffolk countryside. Constable painted The Vale of Dedham art print from Gun Hill looking towards Dedham church and village, near to his father's watermill. As a favourite view of Constable’s, he painted this scene several times. There is a smaller painting completed in 1802 when he was 26, which can be seen in the Victoria & Albert Museum. The Vale of Dedham art print prompted his election to the Royal Academy in 1829 and is now part of the Scottish National Gallery’s permanent collection.
