The Great He Goat Print by Goya
Also known as the Witches’ Sabbath, The Great He Goat art print was painted by the Spanish artist, Francisco de Goya between 1797-1798. Goya applied oil on the plaster walls of his home which was later transferred to canvas supports. The Great He Goat art print shows Satan pictured as a goat and a coven of terrified witches. This work was part of 14 ‘Black Paintings’ by Goya depicting haunting pictures and dark subjects. These intense paintings reflect his fear of insanity, as Goya was then 75 and suffering from mental and physical anguish.
