The Story Behind the Supper at Emmaus Print by Caravaggio

The Supper at Emmaus print by Caravaggio depicts the returning of Jesus to his disciples after his resurrection. This version was painted in 1606, though he had also completed a previous piece on the same subject matter in 1601. The 1606 depiction is much darker with a more muted colour palette. It is currently housed at the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan.
