The Story Behind The Saviour Print by El Greco
The Saviour print portrays the oil on canvas painting by El Greco from between 1608 to 1614. Representing Christ as the saviour of the world, the painting depicts a globe beneath his left hand while his right hand is raised, offering a blessing. This painting is part of a series depicting Christ and the 12 Apostles and draws on Byzantine art tradition. Not all 13 works have survived. The original painting of the Saviour print by El Greco is in the Museo del Prado in Madrid.
