The Story Behind the Fuji from Goten Yama Print by Hokusai

Created in c. 1833, the Fuji from Goten Yama print is a colour woodblock oban print by Japanese artist and printmaker Hokusai. He crafted the most famous landscape print series of ukiyo-e, with his incredible series of Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. This charming scene of cherry blossom at Goten Yama is part of that illustrious series. It shows Mount Fuji in the distance, with peopling strolling and enjoying a picnic as they relax beneath the flowering pink trees Goten Yama at Shinagawa on the Tokaido Highway.
