The Story Behind these Leonardo Da Vinci Prints
Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) is an Italian polymath of the High Renaissance who is widely considered to be one of the greatest and most influential painters of all time. Alongside these Leonardo Da Vinci prints, he was an active scientist, engineer, sculptor and architect.
Da Vinci’s most famous work, the Mona Lisa, is also the most famous painting in the history of art, but he is also well known for his depiction of The Last Supper, Salvator Mundi (currently the most expensive painting ever sold), his Vitruvian Man drawing and his notebooks.
As well as his artistic achievements, Leonardo da Vinci conceptualised flying machines, an early concept for a tank, an adding machine and solar power. He also made important discoveries in anatomy, engineering, geology and optics but these were never published and did not directly influence subsequent science.
