The Story Behind the Stratford Mill Print by John Constable
This oil on canvas painting of Stratford Mill, is part of six immense paintings by John Constable depicting the Stour landscape, another of which is the famous Hay Wain. The renowned Suffolk artist painted the Stratford Mill print in 1820 with the composition of the painting being developed from an oil sketch now known as Anglers at Stratford Mill. Today, Constable’s Stratford Mill print is currently displayed at The National Gallery in London.
