The Story Behind the Newly Born Infant Print by De La Tour
This work of art, painted between 1645 and 1648, by Georges de La Tour is considered by many as his best painting. The oil on canvas painting of the Newly Born Infant print is simple at first appearance, but there’s a large amount of detail concealed in the stark simplicity of the forms. De La Tour portrays a calm serenity justifying the French Baroque painter’s reputation. The Newly Born Infant print original is currently in the Museum of Fine Arts of Rennes in France.
