The Story Behind The Hunters in the Snow Print
The Hunters in the Snow print by Bruegel the Elder is considered the first winter landscape painting from the western art scene. It is part of a commissioned series depicting the months of the year, showing hunters and their dogs marching through the snow with spears. It was painted in 1565 during the Northern Renaissance period. The current location of the original Hunter in the Snow print is the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien in Vienna, Austria.
